Excellent much needed update December 21, 2009 E. Flocco (Philadelphia, PA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
In the past, Wiley CPA exam review books were huge. They were about 50% larger than they are now. The main complaint was that I just want to pass the exam, not get a perfect on it. They had way too much material covered in them.
This time around, it seems they took that advice to heart, and the books are arranged in modules, grouped so that it's easier to study. Whew! Finally, they figured it out. I'm going to purchase the review software, v15, when it comes out. Practicing the exam, especially the questions, is probably the best way to prepare for the FAR.
I've tried the Bisk book last year, but I just didn't feel it as good as Wiley's. I sat for the FAR in January 2007, to see what it was like (without preparing). Didn't go well, and now that things are slowing down, I have the time to really focus on getting this done.
Great Review Material June 19, 2010 Akeela Woods (Valencia, Trinidad, West Indies) I purchased both Bisk and Wiley. Wiley is very systematic and well written. I also got the test bank CD and it has a wealth of questions. I would definitely recommend Wiley over Bisk. Whereas Wiley is modules oriented with an organized and understandable approach to studying for and taking the exam, Bisk falls short with run-on sentences galore, and basically a confusing read. I am confident that with careful study of either text, one should be able to past the exam, however, the Wiley software makes an already challenging exam, less stressful to prepare for. Once again, I fully recommend Wiley over Bisk.
Great Strategies and preparation September 6, 2010 Herbert Quiong (Baldwin, NY, US) I felt the course material to be overwhelming in content. The lay out is also a bit confusing and sometimes I couldn't follow the topics in a logical order. What I do like about this review book are the summary charts that summarize key concepts, the multiple choice questions and simulations that give detailed answers to questions, and answers why the wrong answers were wrong. The explanations were always concise and to the point, and never confusing. The MCQ/explanations in this review is what makes the series. It also gives insight on the 2011 changes, strategies for taking the exam and other important things.
Excellent Service June 4, 2010 Book Gaga (Olympia, Wa) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am always exceptical from buying things online particularly when it comes to books. Sometimes it does not come the way they describe it but for this one, it came as promised. Excellent service as well. It came even few days ahead on their time estimates.
Good CPA review book January 20, 2010 Arthur Donoshaytis 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is good/detailed CPA review book. If you're able to set your own study schedule, you can pass the exam using just this and the Wiley CD(wait until the new one is out) with multiple choice questions and simulations. It's cheaper on amazon than on Wiley's site.
